In Seattle, a small business owner has voiced his disappointment and labeled himself as "ashamed" to call President Biden his leader due to the skyrocketing costs that have put his livelihood at risk. The owner, Youssef, expressed his concerns about the surging prices of essential goods, attributing them to the administration's handling of the economy.

Youssef highlighted the doubling gas prices and the inflated cost of food as major challenges for his business. Frustrated, he explained that he couldn't raise prices to compensate for the increased costs, fearing that it would deter customers from visiting his establishment. He accused political leaders of failing to take appropriate measures to alleviate the burden faced by Americans.

On the other hand, President Biden responded to the criticism by placing the blame on big corporations. He called upon these entities to utilize their record profits to reduce prices, vowing to prioritize fighting inflation. Biden's statement released on Wednesday aims to address the concerns raised by Youssef and others in similar situations.

Youssef's grievances were supported by data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which revealed alarming increases in the prices of various essential goods since President Biden assumed office in January 2021. The report showed a staggering 52% surge in egg prices, a nearly 16% hike in milk costs, an approximate 24% increase in the price of bread, and a 19% rise in coffee costs.

These substantial differences in prices have placed a heavy burden on business owners like Youssef, who has resorted to working long hours seven days a week. He lamented the impact this has had on his personal life, as he rarely gets to spend time with his children. Youssef's relentless work schedule reflects his inability to afford higher wages for his employees, combined with the rising expenses across the board.

The situation faced by Youssef is not unique, with numerous businesses being adversely affected by inflation and other challenges, including a surge in crime rates plaguing several major U.S. cities.

As the debate over rising costs and economic management continues, small business owners like Youssef are calling for immediate action from political leaders to alleviate the strain on their livelihoods and keep their businesses afloat. It remains to be seen how President Biden and other policymakers respond to these concerns and implement measures to mitigate the impact of inflation on small businesses and everyday Americans.
