Shootout in Yellowstone National Park Leaves Armed Suspect Dead, Ranger Injured

The incident took place at Canyon Village in the central part of the park in Wyoming overnight and Thursday morning.
NPS stated that rangers responded to a report of an individual with a firearm and who was allegedly making threats. Upon confronting the suspect, an exchange of gunfire occurred between the subject and law enforcement rangers, leading to the suspect's death. At this time, the name of the deceased individual is being withheld.
Unfortunately, a Yellowstone law enforcement ranger was also injured during the confrontation. The ranger is currently in stable condition and is being treated at a nearby hospital. Authorities have reassured the public that there are no active threats to their safety following the incident.
