In a recent interview with The New York Times, retired tennis champion Serena Williams avoided discussing her connection to former president Donald Trump, despite being revealed as one of his frequent contacts during his recent criminal trial. The 42-year-old athlete, widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, decided to end her tennis career almost two years ago.

When questioned about her association with Trump, Williams responded, "I mean, is this what this interview is about?" The interviewer, David Marchese, pressed further, asking about the nature of their conversations. In response, Williams pointed out that she has conversed with numerous presidents throughout her life, including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and even Ronald Reagan.

The mention of Williams in Trump's trial came about when former Trump aide, Madeleine Westerhout, testified. Prosecutors presented emails exchanged between Westerhout and Rhona Graff, a Trump Organization employee. In one of the emails, Westerhout requested a list of individuals Trump frequently spoke to, including Williams.

The list also included Trump family members, former fixer Michael Cohen, former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, and cable news hosts Bill O'Reilly, Jeanine Pirro, and Joe Scarborough. These names emerged as part of the trial where Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts related to hush money payments made to adult actor Stormy Daniels.

During the trial, it was revealed that Williams allowed Trump to score a point when they played against each other in April 2015 during the inauguration celebrations of the tennis center at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia. It is notable that Trump announced his first presidential run that same summer.

Despite ongoing curiosity about her conversations with Trump, Williams remained tight-lipped, redirecting the focus to her extensive engagement with multiple presidents throughout her lifetime. As one of the most influential athletes of her time, Williams continues to captivate the world with her achievements on and off the tennis court.

While the details of her interactions with Trump may remain undisclosed, Serena Williams' impact on the world of sports and her position as a role model for many cannot be overlooked.
