In a move triggering a sharp response from Joe Biden, President Donald Trump has directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate whether the former president's administration attempted to conceal his mental state while he was in office. Trump's directive has drawn a fiery rebuttal from Biden, who described the investigation as "nothing more than a mere distraction."

"I want to be absolutely clear: the decisions made during my presidency were mine," Biden emphasized in his statement. “I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations. Any suggestion that I didn't is ridiculous and false."

Trump’s order to the Justice Department marks a significant escalation, asking for a formal investigation that goes beyond merely reviewing Biden's last-minute pardons before exiting office. The directive instructs the U.S.’s leading law enforcement official to delve into "the circumstances surrounding Biden's supposed execution of numerous executive actions during his final years in office."

Biden has vehemently defended his decision-making capacity, viewing the investigation as a diversion orchestrated by Trump and Congressional Republicans. "This is nothing more than a distraction by Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans who are working to push disastrous legislation that would cut essential programs like Medicaid and raise costs on American families, all to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations," he stated to ABC News.

This political clash highlights the ongoing partisan battles as both sides prepare for potential future electoral contests, illustrating the entrenched divides within American political discourse.
