A charter plane carrying former president Donald Trump's running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio), was forced to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee after a door seal malfunction, according to a statement from the campaign spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk.

The incident occurred shortly after the Boeing 737, carrying Vance and his entourage, had departed from the Milwaukee airport. The plane declared an emergency and promptly returned to the airport for immediate repairs. Van Kirk assured that the issue was swiftly resolved, allowing the aircraft to continue its journey to Cincinnati, where Vance resides.

Vance had been in Milwaukee for a campaign event at the city's police association. Fortunately, no serious injuries or damage occurred during the emergency landing, and all passengers safely reached their destination.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) clarified that they would not be investigating the incident as it did not meet the criteria for an accident. The NTSB defines accidents as events that result in severe injuries or death, or cause substantial damage.

It is worth noting that this emergency landing comes just a week after Donald Trump's plane was diverted during a rally in Montana. The incident has once again raised concerns about Boeing's assembly process, particularly regarding the 737 Max, which is an updated version of the aircraft Vance was onboard. In January, an Alaska Airlines flight experienced a midair blowout, resulting in a hole in the fuselage, intensifying scrutiny on Boeing and its manufacturing practices.

However, Jeff Guzzetti, a former accident investigator with the Federal Aviation Administration and the NTSB, cautioned against drawing any conclusions solely based on the aircraft manufacturer. He emphasized that it was purely coincidental that this specific issue occurred on a Boeing, as similar incidents can happen to any aircraft, including those produced by Airbus.

Guzzetti further stated that given the speedy resolution of the problem and the aircraft's ability to continue its journey uninterrupted, the issue appeared to be a minor one.

Senator Vance was joined by his wife, their dog, campaign staff members, and a group of traveling reporters during the incident. It serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of air travel and highlights the importance of quick response and expertise in ensuring the safety of all passengers on board.
