In a recent interview with WBZ-TV's "Keller at Large," Sen. Elizabeth Warren discussed her emotional reaction to the prolonged ovation she received at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and highlighted her accomplishments during her time in the Senate.
Warren expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support she received at the DNC, stating that the moment was a reminder of all the volunteers and individuals who joined the fight for a better world. She acknowledged that for the past 12 years, she has been fortunate to be a part of this movement and felt a deep sense of responsibility towards those who believed in the possibility of positive change.
As Warren prepares to campaign for re-election to the Senate, she addressed criticisms made by John Deaton, one of the GOP candidates vying to challenge her. Deaton claimed that while Warren is effective in fighting against the wealthy, she has not fought for the well-being of the poor and middle class.
Responding to Deaton's remarks, Warren cited her successful collaboration with Republican Senator Chuck Grassley on passing a bill that tackled the monopoly held by a few hearing aid companies. This legislation has resulted in a significant drop in hearing aid prices across the country, making them more affordable for middle-class families. Warren emphasized that her work as a Senator revolves around using legislative tools to enhance economic security and affordability for the middle class.
The interview also touched on Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and her approach to outlining specific policy plans. When asked about the criticism directed at Harris, Warren deflected the question by contrasting it with the lack of plans from President Donald Trump to address inflation. Warren pointed out that the causes of inflation post-pandemic are complex, including supply chain disruptions and corporate price gouging. She supported Harris's proposal to combat price gouging, arguing that corporations have exploited the situation to substantially increase prices and profit margins.
Additionally, Warren discussed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s decision to end his presidential campaign and endorse Trump, although the details of their conversation were not disclosed.
The full interview can be viewed on WBZ-TV, where Warren engaged in meaningful conversations about political matters with host Jon Keller. The interview series offers viewers valuable insights from prominent political figures and airs every Sunday morning at 8:30 am.
