In a recent interview with MSNBC, former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci criticized former President Trump for his ongoing attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming they are indicative of his racism. Scaramucci highlighted Trump's repeated use of derogatory language towards Harris during a recent press conference as evidence of his discriminatory mindset.

During the interview with MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, Scaramucci pointed out that Trump had referred to Harris as "dumb" on multiple occasions, which he deemed as a clear manifestation of racism. Scaramucci, who had a brief stint in the Trump administration, expressed his admiration for Harris's qualifications and dismissed Trump's attacks on his former general election opponent.

Scaramucci emphasized that Harris is an exceptionally qualified individual, both in terms of her credentials and as a person. He deemed Trump's characterization of her as absurd and called on people to challenge and denounce such derogatory language.

Meanwhile, speaking from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump delivered a speech in which he appeared visibly irritated by Harris's rising popularity in the polls and the enthusiasm she has generated among voters following President Biden's withdrawal from the race.

When questioned about the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, Trump digressed into discussing Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have A Dream" speech. Notably, he claimed that the crowd that gathered for his own speech prior to the insurrection was larger than the one attending King's historic civil rights address. However, the House's January 6 committee estimated the crowd size at approximately 53,000, significantly smaller than the estimated 250,000 attendees at King's speech.

Trump's comments during the press conference represent another instance of racially-charged remarks from the former president, drawing widespread criticism during his campaign. This incident followed Trump's remarks at the National Association of Black Journalists convention, where he insinuated that Harris had shifted her identity from her Indian heritage to emphasize her Black heritage as a political calculation.

Harris, who is of Black and South Asian descent, has been gaining ground with Black voters, while Trump's comments risk further alienating this crucial voting bloc. In response to Scaramucci's criticism, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung denounced the link between intelligence and racism made by Scaramucci as "racist in of itself."

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how Trump's divisive rhetoric will impact his standing and the trajectory of the upcoming elections. However, criticism such as Scaramucci's highlights the ongoing discourse surrounding race and politics in America.
