The San Francisco 49ers are showing their unwavering support for rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who was shot in the chest over the Labor Day weekend. Pearsall, fortunately, is expected to make a full recovery after being discharged from the hospital on Sunday.

All-Pro tight end George Kittle expressed his relief, stating, "When it comes to Ricky, we're all just so thankful he's gonna be OK." Kittle admitted that hearing the news was "wild" and chose not to ask Pearsall for details, understanding the traumatic nature of the incident. Both head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have emphasized the team's availability to support Pearsall during his recovery.

Due to the shooting and an existing shoulder issue, Pearsall will miss the beginning of the season as he was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list. The team's priority is his overall well-being, including his physical, emotional, and mental recovery. Lynch explained, "When we drafted Ricky, we did it for the long term. And Ricky is going to be a fantastic player here. We're just going to take this as it comes."

Pearsall's presence has already made a positive impact on the 49ers, despite his absence from the field. All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams cited Pearsall's genuine personality and their initial meeting during offseason OTAs as the reason for his return to the team after a holdout. Williams admitted, "Ricky stood out to me. He did go out of his way to come and introduce himself to me. I just instantly felt his vibe and could just feel he's such a genuine person... I wanted to be around for that."

The veteran players of the 49ers have displayed an outpouring of support for the young rookie, demonstrating their unity as the team aims for their third Super Bowl appearance in six seasons and their sixth Lombardi Trophy. "I've never worked with someone who's had to go through something like that, so we're just all here for him," said Kittle. The team is also understanding of the time it will take for Pearsall to process the incident and fully recover.

With their season set to kick off against the New York Jets on Monday night, the 49ers will enter the game with heavy hearts but with a strong determination to win in honor of their teammate, Ricky Pearsall.
