In a concerning escalation of hostilities, approximately 55 rockets were fired from Lebanon into the Upper Galilee region of northern Israel, according to a statement released by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday. The IDF reported that around 35 rockets were detected coming from Lebanese territory, with several intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system. The majority of the rockets, however, landed in open areas, causing no injuries.

Earlier on Saturday, the IDF also reported another rocket strike, with approximately 20 rockets launched from Lebanon. Some of them were intercepted, while others landed in open areas without causing any harm. The attack was claimed by the Lebanese group Hezbollah, which targeted the city of Safed and the village of Akbara in the southern part of the city. The city of Safed, located just 41 kilometers from the Israeli-Lebanese border, had already experienced rocket attacks on Friday night.

These rocket strikes resulted in fires breaking out in open areas near Safed, as reported by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation. While some areas were still occupied, no injuries were recorded. In response to the attacks, the IDF conducted airstrikes using drones to target rocket-launching platforms in southern Lebanon. They also reported attacking a Hezbollah military building in Kafr Rumman and launching artillery strikes on various targets in southern Lebanon.

Israel's Channel 12 broadcaster further reported that a rocket launched from Lebanon landed in an open area of Kfar Szold in the Houla Valley of Upper Galilee, without causing any injuries. The IDF's Home Front Command advised residents in several settlements to close swimming pools, reduce traffic, and stay near shelters as a precautionary measure.

Tensions have been escalating along the Lebanon-Israel border due to cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces. These attacks have occurred as Israel continues its offensive against the Gaza Strip, in response to a cross-border attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. The Israeli army stated that they had detected three explosive-laden drones and rockets fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel on Friday, which were successfully intercepted by the IDF.

The recent barrage of rockets targeting northern Israel is a cause for concern, as it poses a threat to civilian lives and escalates the already volatile situation in the region. The IDF remains vigilant and has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding its borders and protecting its citizens. The Israeli government has condemned these rocket attacks and is closely monitoring the situation to determine the appropriate response.

It is crucial for regional stability that all parties exercise restraint and engage in diplomatic dialogue to de-escalate tensions. The international community has also called for a peaceful resolution to the conflicts in the region, urging both sides to prioritize the well-being and safety of civilians above all else.
