Boulder, Colorado - As the anticipation grows for the much-awaited football matchup between the University of Colorado Buffaloes and their longtime rivals, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the normally bustling Pearl Street in Boulder appears strangely quiet. However, beneath the calm exterior, excitement is brewing as fans gear up for the upcoming Saturday showdown.

Mike Codrey, a familiar face at his hot dog stand on Pearl Street for the past seven years, has witnessed the intensity of the rivalry season after season. "The CU-Nebraska weekend is one that everybody looks forward to," Codrey admitted, as he acknowledged the palpable anticipation building among fans. With many supporters either heading to Lincoln, Nebraska or making plans to watch the game from home, the usual buzz of a game day is subdued. Yet, Codrey noted, "Yeah, it doesn't feel like a game day because everybody is either heading out or making plans to watch it on TV tomorrow. They're preppin'."

Angie Chuang, a longstanding professor at the University of Colorado, spoke to the historical significance of the game for both institutions. "Nebraska-CU is a part of both schools' history," Chuang affirmed. "It's an epic rivalry, and I don't think it will ever not be a thing, even if we don't play each other." This sentiment is particularly notable, as this is the last scheduled matchup between the two teams, adding an extra layer of importance to this particular game.

"I think they really, really want to win this game. We'd like to seal it off with a big win," Chuang added. The desire to come out on top and claim victory in the final installment of this rivalry echoes throughout both fan bases. However, Codrey remains hopeful for the future, predicting, "I bet they find a way to play each other again," emphasizing his belief in the rivalry's continuation.

As the excitement for the Colorado Buffaloes' clash with the Nebraska Cornhuskers intensifies, Boulder prepares for a matchup that is not only crucial for the current season but also holds significant historical weight. With fans eagerly planning their game day activities, the anticipation surrounding this final scheduled face-off between the two fierce rivals shows that the CU-Nebraska rivalry is not easily forgotten.
