**Connecticut Democratic Lawmakers Targeted by Bomb Threats**

Several Democratic members of Congress from Connecticut faced bomb threats aimed at their homes, the lawmakers or their offices reported on Thursday. Jim Himes, Joe Courtney, and John Larson were among the officials who received these threats. Law enforcement officers who responded to the incidents did not find any explosives on the premises.

The threats against the Connecticut lawmakers came just one day after notable figures from Donald Trump's administration also reported bomb threats and "swatting attacks." These attacks involve misleading the police into dispatching emergency responders to a victim under false pretenses.

In one instance, the Vernon home of Joe Courtney was threatened while his wife and children were inside, according to his office. Similarly, Jim Himes said he learned of the threat to his home during a Thanksgiving gathering with his family. The US Capitol Police, along with Greenwich and Stamford police departments, quickly responded to the situation. Himes expressed deep gratitude to the local law enforcement for their prompt actions to secure his family's safety. He strongly condemned political violence, urging for peace and civility throughout the holiday season.

John Larson also shared news of a bomb threat against his home, which prompted a response from the East Hartford police. These alarming threats occur against a backdrop of increasing political violence. In July, during a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a gunman opened fire, injuring Trump in the ear and killing one of his supporters. Another assassination attempt at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course in Florida was foiled by the Secret Service, preventing further tragedy.

On Wednesday, threats were also directed at several of Trump's prominent appointees. New York representative Elise Stefanik, his pick for the next UN ambassador, Matt Gaetz, initially selected as Attorney General, Oregon representative Lori Chavez-DeRemer, chosen to lead the Department of Labor, and former New York congressman Lee Zeldin, tapped to head the Environmental Protection Agency, were all among those targeted.

Such events heighten concerns about the escalating instances of politically motivated threats and violence, prompting calls for increased security and civility in the nation’s political climate.
