**Chairman Comer Subpoenas Dr. O'Connor in Biden Cognitive Decline Probe**
House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, has issued a subpoena to Dr. Kevin O'Connor, President Joe Biden's physician. Dr. O'Connor is required to appear for a deposition on June 27, 2025, as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of a cover-up concerning President Biden's cognitive decline and the potential unauthorized issuance of presidential pardons and other executive actions.
This subpoena follows Dr. O'Connor's refusal to voluntarily comply with a previous request for a transcribed interview by Chairman Comer. The request, made on May 22, 2025, asked Dr. O'Connor to discuss various topics, including his February 2024 assessment of President Biden. In that assessment, Dr. O'Connor described Biden as "a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency."
Chairman Comer has asserted that Dr. O'Connor's testimony is vital to determining whether his financial relationship with the Biden family influenced his assessment of the President's fitness for office. Comer has also indicated that understanding Dr. O'Connor's involvement is crucial in evaluating whether there was an effort to conceal information about Biden's cognitive health from the public.
This is not the first time Dr. O'Connor has been asked to testify. In the previous Congress, Chairman Comer also requested his appearance to discuss his medical evaluations and any connections to the Biden family's purported influence operations. However, the Biden White House intervened, preventing Dr. O'Connor's testimony at that time.
In a formal letter accompanying the subpoena, Chairman Comer emphasized the significance of Dr. O'Connor's testimony for advancing the Committee's oversight and legislative duties. The investigation seeks to clarify the broader circumstances surrounding the physician's evaluation and any potential conflicts of interest due to his financial ties to the Biden family.
