The Boston Red Sox made some roster moves on Sunday as they recalled Bobby Dalbec and selected Jamie Westbrook from Triple-A Worcester. This decision comes as a result of placing Vaughn Grissom and Romy Gonzalez on the 10-day injured list due to hamstring strains.

Additionally, Garrett Whitlock has been transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Westbrook on the 40-man roster. The 28-year-old Westbrook, hailing from Holyoke, has put up impressive numbers with Worcester this season. He boasts a .267 batting average, .364 on-base percentage, .436 slugging percentage, and an .800 OPS. In 49 games, Westbrook has hit five home runs, 13 doubles, scored 25 runs, and recorded 29 RBIs. What's more, he has showcased his versatility by playing at various positions, including first base, second base, third base, right field, and designated hitter for the WooSox.

Westbrook brings extensive experience to the Red Sox, having appeared in 1,159 minor league games and also playing in Indy Ball and Mexico. His call-up to the major league team is a testament to his hard work and dedication.

On the other hand, Dalbec began the season on Boston's roster but has struggled recently. In his previous stints with the team this year, the infielder has gone 7-for-53 at the plate, resulting in a .132 batting average. He has managed to hit two doubles, draw four walks, but has also struck out 28 times.

As for the sidelined players, Grissom suffered a hamstring strain during the second inning of Saturday's game. This setback comes after he spent the initial 32 games of the season on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring strain. Although Grissom has made some adjustments and shown signs of improvement, he has faced challenges with a low batting average of .148, one double, three RBIs, six runs, five walks, and 19 strikeouts in 23 games. The extent of Grissom's current hamstring strain is not yet known, pending the results of an MRI.

Similarly, Gonzalez has been placed on the injured list with a hamstring strain. The exact timing of his injury remains unclear, but the infielder has posted a solid .257 batting average, along with a double and a triple, in 17 games.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora has expressed uncertainty regarding the duration of Grissom's absence, but he believes it may not be as long as his previous injury in spring training. Cora stated that Grissom will undergo imaging to determine the extent of the strain. In Gonzalez's case, Cora expects him to return after the minimum 10-day stint on the injured list, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing his overall health.

The Red Sox will rely on the recalled Dalbec and selected Westbrook to contribute and fill the void left by Grissom and Gonzalez. As the season continues, the team remains hopeful for a swift recovery for their injured players and looks forward to their return to the lineup.
