**Nicky Jam Withdraws Trump Endorsement Amid Controversy Over Puerto Rico Comments**

Recording artist Nicky Jam has rescinded his backing of Donald Trump after offensive comments about Puerto Rico were made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a recent rally. The change of heart came after Hinchcliffe, performing at Madison Square Garden, referred to Puerto Rico disparagingly as a "floating island of garbage."

In a video posted on his Instagram, Nicky Jam clarified his initial support for Trump was economically motivated, believing that Trump's policies would benefit many Latinos and immigrants struggling in the U.S. economy. "Never in my life did I think that one month later there would be a comedian who would criticize my country and speak poorly of my country. And for that I withdraw my support of Donald Trump. Puerto Rico should be respected," he stated.

Nicky Jam had previously appeared with Trump at a rally in Las Vegas in September. However, the derogatory remarks about Puerto Rico were the tipping point for his withdrawal of support.

The backlash extended to the music industry, with Mexican rock band Maná taking a stand. They decided to remove their collaborative track with Nicky Jam, "Pies a Cabeza," from all streaming platforms. The band announced on Instagram, "Maná doesn't work with racists," emphasizing their long-standing commitment to defending the rights and dignity of Latinos globally. They affirmed that no business or promotion could outweigh the importance of their people's dignity.

Several artists have spoken out against Hinchcliffe's comments, further intensifying the controversy and amplifying calls for respect towards Puerto Rico and its people.
