In a shocking turn of events, rapper and singer Sean Kingston, along with his mother Janice Turner, has been charged with committing over a million dollars' worth of fraud in South Florida. The 34-year-old artist was recently booked into Broward County jail following his arrest on May 23 at Fort Irwin, a training base in California's Mojave Desert, where he was scheduled to perform.
The arrest warrants, released by the Broward County Sheriff's Office, revealed that Kingston and Turner have been accused of conducting an organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, identity theft, and other related crimes. The charges stem from allegations of stealing money, jewelry, a Cadillac Escalade, and furniture.
Kingston's arrest in California led to him waiving his right to fight extradition and agreeing to be turned over to Florida authorities. Similarly, a SWAT team raided Kingston's rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale, resulting in Turner's immediate arrest.
The arrest warrants state that between October and March, Kingston and Turner allegedly stole nearly $500,000 in jewelry, over $200,000 from Bank of America, $160,000 from the Escalade dealer, over $100,000 from First Republic Bank, and $86,000 from a custom bed manufacturer. However, specific details about the incidents were not disclosed.
Legal representation for Kingston and Turner, Robert Rosenblatt, expressed their intention to address the charges in a Florida court and expressed confidence in achieving a successful resolution.
This is not the first encounter with the law for Kingston and his mother. Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, was already serving a two-year probation sentence for trafficking stolen property. Meanwhile, Turner had pleaded guilty in 2006 to bank fraud, resulting in her serving nearly 1.5 years in prison, as per federal court records.
As the legal process unfolds, fans and the public will be eagerly awaiting further updates on the case against Sean Kingston and his mother, hoping for a fair resolution to these serious allegations of fraud that have shaken the South Florida community.
