In a show of solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, a group of pro-Palestinian demonstrators staged a protest in the lobby of a San Francisco building that houses the Israeli Consulate. The protesters occupied the building for several hours on Monday, calling for an immediate end to the war.

The exact number of arrests made during the demonstration remains unclear. However, an Associated Press journalist witnessed at least a dozen individuals being detained by the police. Photos and videos shared on social media captured the scene, showing the demonstrators sitting in a circle and chanting fervently, "Free, free Palestine!"

The demonstrators arrived at the Financial District's high-rise building, where the Israeli Consulate is located, at approximately 9 a.m. It was confirmed that they did not enter the consulate's offices, but rather occupied the building's lobby area, intending to draw attention to their cause.

Consul General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest, Marco Sermoneta, acknowledged the protest and stated that his office had informed visitors about the possibility of appointment changes due to the ongoing situation. San Francisco Police officers were deployed to guard the building, prohibiting public access.

Reports from the scene indicated that the demonstrators had planned to remain in the building until they were forcibly removed. Around 11:45 a.m., six police vehicles and additional officers were observed near the consulate, suggesting preparations for the protestors' removal. A San Francisco Fire Department ambulance was also present as a precautionary measure.

The pro-Palestinian demonstrators had affixed signs on the front doors of the building, demanding an end to the Israel-Hamas conflict. The demonstration was a part of the global wave of protests that have erupted in various cities worldwide, denouncing the escalating violence and urging international intervention to bring about a peaceful resolution.

As tensions continue to escalate in the conflict, protests and demonstrations advocating for Palestinians' rights have become more prominent. The occupation of the San Francisco building housing the Israeli Consulate serves as a stark demonstration of the growing unrest and division surrounding the ongoing conflict.

Authorities have not provided further information regarding the arrests or the immediate resolution of the situation. The incident undoubtedly highlights the deep-rooted sentiments and concerns that surround the Israel-Hamas war, showcasing the urgency for diplomatic efforts toward a lasting ceasefire and the promotion of peace in the region.
