A 29-year-old man from Prince George's County, Maryland, has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred at a Dupont Circle nightclub late Friday night, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Rennwel Mantock was taken into custody on Saturday and is facing charges of assault with intent to kill, possession of unregistered ammunition, and possession of an unregistered firearm, as stated in a news release by the police.

The incident took place at around 11:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Connecticut Avenue NW and 18th Street NW, resulting in injuries to six individuals. Four men and two women were wounded during the shooting, with five of them being transported to hospitals. However, their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. One man who sustained a minor graze was treated at the scene and declined hospitalization, according to the DC police.

Following the incident, law enforcement officers recovered a weapon from the scene, confirming the presence of firearms during the altercation.

DC Police Assistant Chief Ramey Kyle revealed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute that began inside the nightclub and spilled out into the street. While the investigation is ongoing, officials are yet to determine whether the shooting initially occurred inside the club or outside.

In a statement released on X, the DC Police announced that the scene is now secured and the community is not under further threat. Multiple news outlets have reported that the shooting took place outside the Decades nightclub and that the dispute originated inside the establishment.

As a result of the incident, Decades nightclub has been issued a notice of closure, indicating that it will remain closed for a maximum period of 96 hours. It is unclear when the establishment will be able to reopen to the public.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the shooting to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. Tips can be reported to the police by calling 202-727-9099 or via anonymous text at 50411.

The community is called upon to remain vigilant and cautious as further details about the incident emerge and the investigation progresses.
