### Biden and Trump to Hold Oval Office Meeting as Transition Begins

In a significant step towards the presidential transition, President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump will meet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the Oval Office, as announced by the White House on Saturday morning. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did not divulge further details in the announcement.

This meeting is a customary practice during the transfer of presidential power. However, it is noteworthy because Trump did not invite Biden to the White House following his defeat in the 2020 election, and has yet to fully accept his loss.

Back in 2020, Biden faced delays in his transition due to the General Services Administration's hesitance to affirm his victory, which hindered his team's communication with federal departments and access to necessary funds. In contrast, Biden has underlined his commitment to supporting Trump in ensuring a peaceful and seamless transfer of power this time around.

The preceding power transfer saw unprecedented disruption on January 6, 2021, when a violent mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in protest of the election results. Furthermore, Trump did not attend Biden's inauguration.

Leading Trump's transition are Howard Lutnick and Linda McMahon, both prominent figures from the private sector and longtime allies of Trump. Over the upcoming weeks, Trump's team will be busy appointing individuals to key positions within the administration. Trump's transition plans are already in motion, with Susie Wiles appointed as his chief of staff, following her crucial role in his campaign's success.

Additionally, Trump announced the formation of his inaugural committee, which will organize the events for January's inauguration. The committee will be chaired by investor Steve Witkoff and former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler.
