In a recent interview with CBS, President Joe Biden emphasized the importance of defeating former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. Biden, who described himself as a "transition president," acknowledged the honor of being in office but highlighted the obligation he feels towards the country.

During the interview with CBS chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa, Biden, who is 81 years old, reflected on his age and stated, "It's hard for me to even say how old I am; although it's a great honor being president, I think I have an obligation to the country to do what I must, which is the most important thing we can do - defeat Trump."

Biden's remarks come after his withdrawal from the presidential race last month following concerns over his performance in the June debates. This decision led to Vice President Kamala Harris being backed by the Democratic Party, with her campaign already raising an impressive $300 million since its launch. A recent poll has also shown Harris leading in three crucial swing states against Trump.

Expressing his doubts about a peaceful transfer of power if Trump were to lose the election, Biden stated, "He means what he says. We don't take him seriously. He means it." This comment underlines the apprehension surrounding Trump's potential response to a defeat in the election.

President Biden's strong focus on defeating Trump illustrates the significance he attaches to the upcoming election. As the Democratic nominee, Vice President Harris continues to gain momentum, bolstering hopes within the party. With both candidates committed to their respective campaigns, the November election promises to be a critical turning point for the nation.
