President Joe Biden officially announced his withdrawal from the 2024 United States Presidential Election, passing the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate. The decision came after the Republican National Convention held in Chicago and sets the stage for a momentous clash between Harris and Former President Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential debate.

ABC News will be hosting the second presidential debate on September 10th at 8 p.m. Central Time in Philadelphia, marking the first face-off between Harris and Trump. This debate could potentially be their last encounter before the election, making it a crucial event.

The first presidential debate took place in late June in Atlanta, hosted by CNN, where Trump faced off against Biden. The latter received criticism for his performance and inability to articulate his points clearly during the debate.

The upcoming presidential debate will be moderated by "World News Tonight" anchor David Muir and ABC News Live "Prime" anchor Linsey Davis, ensuring a fair and balanced discussion. Originally, the two parties had agreed to only two debates, with the first one in June and the upcoming one in September.

However, Trump has proposed two additional debates, one with Fox News on September 4th and another with NBC News on September 25th. It remains to be seen if the Harris campaign will agree to these additional debates, as reported by CBS News.

Meanwhile, the vice presidential debate is also on the horizon. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance have accepted the invitation from CBS News to take the stage and discuss the important issues at hand. The debate is scheduled to take place in New York on various dates, including October 1st, where Walz expressed his agreement to participate in a post on social media.

As the Democratic National Convention unfolds and President Biden hands over the baton to Vice President Harris, all eyes are now set on the upcoming debates. These events will play a crucial role in shaping public opinion and determining the future leadership of the United States.
