In a public appearance following his lackluster performance in the first 2024 debate against Donald Trump, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were seen arriving for a star-studded fundraiser in the Hamptons. The couple put up a united front, donning coordinating blue-hued ensembles as they stepped off Marine One at Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach.

The fundraiser, hosted by hedge-fund billionaire Barry Rosenstein and his wife Lizanne, was the first of two major donor events President Biden attended in the metro area over the weekend. Despite a growing national dissent calling for his resignation following the debate, prominent figures, including celebrity couples Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan, as well as Howard and Beth Stern, were in attendance, reportedly having paid up to $250,000 for the opportunity to interact with the president.

However, their arrival caused traffic congestion, attracting disapproval from locals, including members of the exclusive Maidstone Club. A plane flew above the venue with a sign reading "BI-DONE," expressing criticism towards the President.

Attendees of the well-heeled event were said to be "extremely disappointed" in President Biden's faltering performance during the debate, which raised concerns about his mental fitness. Some attendees even expressed their desire for him to drop out of the race. Despite this sentiment, the event was deemed a success, with Team Biden announcing that a staggering $27 million had been raised since the debate debacle.

During the debate, President Biden's soft and scratchy voice was attributed to a lingering cold, according to insiders. His need for assistance from Jill Biden while leaving the stage only heightened existing doubts about his ability to lead the country.

In the aftermath of the debate, a Washington Post editor, Bob Woodward, expressed astonishment and concern over the President's performance, describing it as a "political hydrogen bomb" for both Biden and the Democratic Party.

Recent polling data indicates that a significant 82% of voters do not believe President Biden should seek re-election, reflecting the growing skepticism surrounding his ability to deliver in a second term.

As President Biden continues to face criticism and calls for resignation, it remains to be seen how this high-profile fundraiser and the subsequent support from big donors will impact his future political endeavors.
