In a leaked body camera footage, a police officer assigned to the Pennsylvania rally where former President Donald Trump was targeted by an assassination attempt expressed his frustration towards the Secret Service for not stationing personnel on the roof where the gunman opened fire. The incident occurred on July 13, just 130 yards away from where Trump was delivering his speech.

The video, published by the Wall Street Journal, captures a fired-up police officer from the Butler Township Police Department venting his anger over the Secret Service's decision to leave the roof unoccupied. "I f-king told them they need to post a guy f-king over here," the officer can be heard saying shortly after a shot rang out. When another officer asks who he informed, the officer responds, "The Secret Service. I told them that f-king Tuesday."

However, the footage also reveals confusion surrounding whether the roof was adequately covered by security personnel. One officer questions the police officer who claimed to have informed the Secret Service, saying, "I thought you guys were on the roof." In response, the officer clarifies, "No, we were inside. I told them to post f-king guys over here." The other officer expresses his disbelief, wondering how someone could go unnoticed if there were already personnel on the roof.

Additional body camera footage released by Butler Township showcases the pivotal moment when a police officer is lifted onto the roof and finds himself staring down the barrel of the AR-style rifle held by the would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks. Crooks opened fire on the former president during the rally, hitting him in the ear and tragically claiming the life of one innocent bystander. Within seconds of his first shot, law enforcement swiftly neutralized and killed Crooks.

The leaked footage and the officer's frustration shed light on the incident's aftermath and the questions surrounding the Secret Service's handling of security measures during the rally. Authorities and investigators will likely delve further into the events to determine the breakdown in communication and whether additional security measures could have prevented the attack.

The Secret Service has yet to comment on the specific allegations made by the police officer in the video. The investigation into the attempted assassination of Donald Trump continues, with a focus on understanding the events leading up to the attack and identifying any potential lapses in security protocols.
