A new twist emerged in the intersection of cryptocurrency and American politics as blockchain firm Magic Eden announced a partnership to launch an official Trump-branded crypto wallet. The announcement, however, quickly stirred controversy as Donald Trump's sons publicly denied any involvement with the project.

Magic Eden promoted the new wallet as the "Official $TRUMP Wallet" in collaboration with GetTrumpMemes.com. A promotional website promised consumers the first and only official Trump wallet, urging them to join a waitlist for early access.

However, the Trump family wasted no time distancing themselves from the initiative. "The Trump Organization has zero involvement with this wallet product," Donald Trump Jr. posted on the social media platform X. His brother Eric echoed the sentiment, stating, "I run [The Trump Organization] and I know nothing about this project!"

The confusion surrounding Trump-branded wallets deepened as at least two other crypto wallets with Trump affiliations appear to be in the works. Trump Media and Technology Group had filed a trademark application in November 2024 for a digital wallet service under the name Truth.Fi.

Critics have recently targeted Trump for his crypto ventures, accusing him of leveraging his presidential stature for financial gain. This criticism peaked when the former president attended a dinner with prominent holders of his memecoin, sparking allegations that he had effectively sold access to the presidency.

Neither Fight Fight Fight LLC, the developer behind the Trump memecoin, nor Magic Eden immediately responded to requests for comment on the matter. Nonetheless, Magic Eden co-founder and CEO Jack Lu took to social media to promote the wallet, lauding it as a step towards mainstream crypto adoption.

Crypto journalist Molly White was the first to report on the Trump Wallet, highlighting its presence on the web. Although Trump once criticized bitcoin, his involvement in the crypto space has ramped up significantly, with Trump Media raising over $2 billion to acquire bitcoin. Additionally, the Trumps are also backing World Liberty Financial, a DeFi project that has introduced its own stablecoin.

Despite the uproar, it’s clear that the Trump family's foray into the world of cryptocurrency remains a hotbed of activity and speculation.
