In a tragic turn of events, the Chicago Police have issued an arrest warrant for Xavier L. Tate, a 22-year-old individual believed to be connected to the murder of Officer Luis Huesca. Authorities have classified Tate as armed and dangerous and have urged the public not to approach him if spotted. Instead, they are requesting that anyone with information about his whereabouts contact the detectives at 312-747-8380 or submit an anonymous tip online.

The warrant issued for Tate is specifically for first-degree murder, as court records indicate that he allegedly used a firearm to shoot and kill Officer Huesca. The incident occurred in the early hours of April 20th in Gage Park. Police were alerted to the scene following reports of a gunshot in the 5500 block of South Kedzie Avenue. Upon investigation, they found Officer Huesca in the 3100 block of West 56th Street, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officer Huesca was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. His untimely death has left behind a grieving mother and uncle. Supt. Larry Snelling expressed his deep condolences for the loss, describing Officer Huesca as a dedicated officer and a remarkable individual.

During a press conference, Supt. Snelling revealed that Officer Huesca was on his way home after his shift, still wearing his uniform with something that partly obscured it. The officer was shot multiple times, and his assailant also stole his car. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers as they work tirelessly to ensure the safety of their communities.

Officer Huesca's funeral is scheduled for Monday, where his family, colleagues, and community members will gather to honor his memory. Meanwhile, the search for Xavier L. Tate continues, and law enforcement remains committed to bringing him to justice.
