PGA Tour Golfer Grayson Murray Found Dead in Apparent Suicide at Florida Residence

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida - PGA Tour golfer Grayson Murray tragically died by suicide at his residence in Palm Beach Gardens over the weekend, according to Palm Beach Gardens police. Murray's body was discovered on Saturday morning at approximately 11 a.m. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

Murray, a two-time PGA Tour winner, had recently moved to the area with his fiancée, Christiana Ritchie. The 27-year-old golfer died just one day after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Murray family released a statement on Sunday acknowledging that Grayson took his own life. They expressed gratitude for the support they have received from the PGA Tour and the entire golf community during this difficult time. Eric and Terry Murray, Grayson's parents, said, "Life wasn't always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now."

Grayson Murray, who was a member of the Dye Preserve Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida, was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. Before turning pro, he attended Wake Forest, East Carolina, and Arizona State, where he pursued his passion for golf.

In 2021, Murray made headlines when he spoke out on social media about the lack of support he had received from the PGA Tour during his battles with alcoholism and mental health challenges. Despite his struggles, those who knew him at the Dye Preserve Golf Club spoke highly of him. Kurt Thompson, the general manager of the club, praised Murray's effort to turn his life around and mentioned his kindness and generosity towards club members and staff.
