PGA Tour golfer Grayson Murray has tragically passed away at the age of 30, as confirmed by his family on Sunday. The talented golfer died on Saturday morning, just a day after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

In a statement released by the tour, Murray's parents Eric and Terry expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support they had received from the PGA Tour and the entire golfing community during this difficult time. They acknowledged that life had not always been easy for Grayson, but they hoped that he could now find peace in eternal rest.

Murray, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, was fondly remembered by his fellow golfers during the tournament on Sunday. Many donned black and red pins on their caps as a tribute to honor the late golfer, who was an avid fan of the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan also issued a statement, emphasizing the impact that Murray's passing had on the golfing world. He expressed condolences to the devastated family and acknowledged the heavy hearts that many would carry for a long time on the tour. Monahan stressed the need for support during this challenging period.

Murray had previously been candid about his struggles with anxiety and depression. After winning his second career title at the 2024 Sony Open in January, he opened up about his battles, admitting that he had contemplated giving up on golf and life itself at times.

During the Charles Schwab Challenge, Murray had a mixed performance. He began the tournament with a solid 2-under par in his opening round. However, things took a turn in the second round, where he shot 5-over par and eventually withdrew after consecutive bogeys, citing illness as the reason.

In their statement, Eric and Terry Murray urged people to honor their son's memory by being kind to one another. They expressed their hope that kindness would become Grayson's enduring legacy, requesting nothing more.

The golfing world mourns the loss of Grayson Murray's life, remembering him as a talented golfer who faced his own personal battles. As the community continues to cope with the tragic news, support and compassion will be vital in remembering him.
