In the days leading up to his passing, OJ Simpson, the former football star and convicted felon, was reportedly enjoying quiet moments at home, according to his longtime lawyer, Malcolm LaVergne. Simpson died on April 10 at the age of 76 after battling prostate cancer.

LaVergne shared that just two weeks before his death, Simpson appeared awake, alert, and relaxed while sitting on his couch, drinking a beer and watching TV. The attorney revealed that it was during this visit that they had their last meaningful conversation, catching up on the news.

However, by April 5, a doctor informed LaVergne that Simpson was "transitioning" and experiencing deterioration in his health due to his prostate cancer diagnosis last year. During LaVergne's last visit, Simpson was weak and could only ask for water, choosing to watch a golf tournament, as he was an avid golf enthusiast.

Contrary to earlier claims from the Simpson family, LaVergne stated that only one "close family member" was present when Simpson passed away but declined to disclose their identity. The attorney acknowledged the immense pressure on Simpson's family, who had to endure a lifetime of sharing him with the world, from his early fame to the media frenzy surrounding his arrest, trial, and acquittal for the murders in 1994.

Simpson leaves behind four adult children: Arnelle, Jason, Sydney, and Justin. LaVergne emphasized that above all, these children lost a father and now bear the burden of his controversial reputation, complicating their grieving process.

As the lawyer responsible for handling Simpson's estate, LaVergne initially faced criticism when he rejected Ron Goldman's family's claim for the remaining assets to satisfy the wrongful death judgment against Simpson. However, he later confirmed that Fred Goldman's claim would be accepted and addressed in accordance with Nevada law. The exact value of Simpson's estate is still being determined.

It is worth noting that at the time of his death, Simpson had not fully paid the majority of the civil judgment to the Brown and Goldman families, with the original $33.5 million judgment now estimated to exceed $100 million, according to the Goldman family attorney.

Overall, OJ Simpson's final days were marked by quieter moments at home, where he enjoyed watching TV and catching up on the news. However, his passing also drew attention to his complex and controversial legacy, underscoring the challenges his family continues to face in the aftermath of his death.
