In a disappointing turn of events for Ohio State football, highly sought-after offensive tackle recruit Josh Petty has officially committed to Georgia Tech, leaving the Buckeyes empty-handed in their pursuit. Petty, a four-star prospect from Roswell, Georgia, announced his decision on Monday, putting an end to weeks of speculation. Both Ohio State and Florida State were strong contenders for the talented lineman, but ultimately, Petty chose to stay close to home and join the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Standing at an impressive 6-foot-5 and weighing 265 pounds, Petty had visited Ohio State on June 14 for an official visit. While the Buckeyes made a late push to secure his commitment, it seemed that momentum had shifted in favor of Georgia Tech in recent months. Despite the efforts of Ohio State's coaching staff, Petty's decision to remain in Georgia ultimately prevailed.

With Petty now off the board, Ohio State is left with just two offensive linemen, Carter Lowe and Jake Cook, committed for the 2025 recruiting cycle. Attention now turns to David Sanders Jr., the top-ranked offensive tackle in the 2025 class. Sanders is scheduled to announce his commitment on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., with both Tennessee and Ohio State being the likely frontrunners for his services.

In the recruiting battle for Sanders, the Tennessee Volunteers have gained significant momentum in the days leading up to the announcement. However, the Buckeyes are still hopeful that they can sway Sanders to join their program. If Ohio State fails to secure Sanders' commitment, they will need to reassess their strategy for recruiting offensive linemen in the 2025 cycle, as many of their other targets have already committed elsewhere.

It remains to be seen which path Sanders will choose, but the outcome will undoubtedly have a significant impact on Ohio State's offensive line recruitment. As the Buckeyes await the eagerly anticipated announcement, they are hopeful that they can add another talented player to their roster. However, with other top programs vying for Sanders' services, it will be a challenging battle until the very end.
