In a heart-wrenching case that shocked the community, Chad Doerman, 33, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting deaths of his three young sons. The sentencing took place in a Clermont County court, where Doerman pleaded guilty to aggravated murder charges.

The tragic incident occurred on June 15, 2023, in Monroe Township, Ohio, approximately 75 miles west of Columbus. Doerman, who was taken into custody at the scene, admitted to planning the killings and admitted to chasing down one of his sons in a field as the child attempted to escape.

Prosecutor Mark Tekulve initially sought the death penalty, but he altered his stance, taking into account the ongoing trauma experienced by the surviving family members. In a press conference following the sentencing, Tekulve expressed his intention to spare the family any further agony.

Following the prosecutor's statement, Laura Doerman, the mother of the children and ex-wife of the defendant, tearfully shared a written statement expressing the profound loss she has suffered. She spoke of the everyday joys she yearns for, like pushing her boys on the swing, hearing their loving expressions, and tucking them in at night. She expressed anger, frustration, and profound sadness, acknowledging that grief will forever remain in their hearts as the only outlet for the love they can no longer give.

Laura Doerman, in a statement released through prosecutors, expressed her agreement with the resolution of the case. She acknowledged that no punishment could ever bring her boys back but stated that having the assurance that Chad will spend the rest of his life behind bars brings the most favorable outcome for her family.

Prosecutor Tekulve has announced plans to unveil more details of the case during a news conference scheduled for Monday. While the family continues to mourn the loss of Clayton, Hunter, and Chase, Laura Doerman has requested privacy and expressed her gratitude towards prosecutors and first responders.

In these difficult times, Laura also asked the community to remember her beloved sons as lively, fun-loving boys who enjoyed fishing, go-carting, swimming, and spending time at the baseball fields. She urged people to cherish the memories of her inseparable, innocent boys and to hold onto the joy they brought to the world.

The sentencing of Chad Doerman serves as a tragic reminder of the devastating consequences of such acts of violence and brings the hope that justice has been served.
