In a recent development, O.J. Simpson's death certificate has been released, confirming that the former football star died of prostate cancer at his home in Las Vegas. The news was communicated by Simpson's attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, who stated that the certificate, issued by Clark County, Nevada, revealed no other causes of death.

The confirmation aligns with Simpson's family's previous announcement made on the social media platform X, where they shared that the 76-year-old had passed away due to cancer on April 10. The revelation brings closure to the long-standing speculation surrounding Simpson's cause of death.

It is worth noting that Simpson's name has been linked to notorious criminal cases in the past. He was famously acquitted in the 1994 deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald L. Goldman in a criminal court. However, a civil court jury later held him liable for their deaths.

Simpson's legal troubles did not end there. In 2008, he was convicted on armed robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy, and other charges related to his attempt to retrieve stolen memorabilia. Following his conviction, Simpson served nine years of a 33-year sentence, with many considering it as overdue punishment for the slayings of Simpson and Goldman.

In May 2023, Simpson took to social media to announce that he had been diagnosed with cancer, although the specific type was not disclosed. In subsequent videos posted in February, Simpson reassured his followers about his health, denying rumors of being in hospice care and expressing that he was feeling "good." In one video, he even expressed his hopes of returning to the golf course in a few weeks.

Prostate cancer, the cause of Simpson's demise, is a common form of cancer affecting one in eight men during their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society. Furthermore, the risk of prostate cancer is known to be higher in African American men and in Caribbean men of African ancestry compared to men of other races.

The release of O.J. Simpson's death certificate puts to rest any lingering doubts about the cause of his passing. As the public reflects on the complex legacy left by this controversial figure, it serves as a reminder of the impact of prostate cancer and the importance of raising awareness about this disease among men of all backgrounds.
