North Korea might be preparing to join Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with around 11,000 North Korean soldiers allegedly stationed in Russia and ready to engage. This development has stirred significant anxiety, particularly as the head of Ukraine's military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, disclosed that 2,600 of these troops are expected to be deployed in Russia's Kursk region by November 1. This region has seen active combat since Ukraine's successful advance in August.

"We received intelligence indicating their readiness by Nov. 1," Budanov revealed to The War Zone, a publication focusing on defense matters.

A video surfaced on Saturday, shared by Ukrainian officials, seemingly depicting North Korean soldiers receiving uniforms and supplies from Russian military personnel. Ihor Solovey, head of Ukraine's Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, commented on the footage, underscoring its significance as it purportedly provides the first visual confirmation of North Korean involvement in the conflict.

"If verified, this video represents North Korean citizens being equipped by the Russian military, a major indicator of North Korea's active participation alongside Russia," Solovey stated.

This potential shift in the conflict's landscape has alarmed both France and Ukraine. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, speaking at a joint press conference in Kyiv with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, warned of the grave implications. Barrot suggested that such a collaboration would signal a new, more dangerous phase in the conflict, hinting at Moscow's struggles and the potential for further escalation. Sybiha echoed these sentiments, noting the increased threat posed by this development.

Recent concerns were initially voiced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who alerted the international community to the possible deployment of 10,000 North Korean troops in Russia's renewed territorial campaign.

Despite these reports, Russia has consistently denied the presence of North Korean troops on its soil. Both Moscow and Pyongyang have dismissed any claims of military or arms transfers between the nations. NATO chief Mark Rutte supported this stance, stating there is no evidence of North Korean troops in Ukraine.

However, U.S. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner issued a stark warning, labeling such developments as crossing a "red line." Turner urged immediate action from the United States and NATO allies to prevent an escalation of the conflict.

In related news, Ukrainian drones targeted a Russian electronics plant involved in weapons production on Saturday. Additionally, a surprising prisoner swap saw 180 detainees exchanged on Friday, according to the Kyiv Independent.
