In a tragic incident at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, a woman from North Carolina was discovered deceased, entangled in a baggage conveyor belt, authorities revealed on Friday. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 57-year-old Virginia Christine Vinton of Waxhaw, North Carolina. An autopsy is scheduled to shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death.

Firefighters were alerted to the distressing scene after receiving a 911 call at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Thursday. Vinton's lifeless body was found entangled in the conveyor belt system inside a restricted baggage room near an international flight terminal.

Although surveillance footage captures Vinton entering the area at around 2:27 a.m. on Thursday, it fails to provide any clues as to what transpired afterward. The room where the tragic incident occurred is strictly off-limits to the public, leaving investigators puzzled as to why Vinton was in that area. Authorities have confirmed that Vinton was not an employee of the airport, according to a U.S. Department of Labor spokesman.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office spokesperson, Natalia Derevyanny, stated that an autopsy to determine the cause of death had been scheduled for Friday. While further details surrounding the investigation have not been disclosed, local police remain tight-lipped, refraining from making any additional comments pertaining to the case.

This incident has struck a chord of sadness and shock within the airport community. As the investigation progresses, authorities hope to gather more information to clarify the sequence of events that led to Vinton's tragic demise.
