In a dramatic turn of events, a murder suspect who had been on the run for months was finally apprehended when he crashed through the ceiling while hiding in the attic of a family member's home in Memphis. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Deario Wilkerson, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting that occurred in April.

Law enforcement agencies had been tirelessly searching for Wilkerson since May, after obtaining a warrant for his arrest in relation to the killing of 27-year-old Troy Cunningham in the Hollywood neighborhood of Memphis. After successfully tracking the fugitive's whereabouts, authorities closed in on him at a family member's residence.

Upon arrival at the scene, the authorities commenced a thorough search of the premises. Unbeknownst to them, Wilkerson had sought refuge in the attic. It was during this search that the suspect's hiding spot was unexpectedly compromised. With a loud crash followed by a flurry of activity, Wilkerson came crashing through the ceiling and landed on the floor, catching law enforcement off-guard.

Thankfully, Wilkerson emerged from the ordeal unharmed and was promptly taken into custody without further incident. The entire arrest operation lasted less than 10 minutes, with law enforcement agencies swiftly moving to secure the suspect. Wilkerson is now being held at the Shelby County Jail with bail set at over $6 million.

Photographs taken after the fall depict a significant hole in the ceiling, along with scattered dirt and broken plaster on the ground, serving as a visual reminder of the suspect's abrupt descent. In addition to the murder charge, Wilkerson was also wanted for several other offenses, including reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, tampering with or fabricating evidence, reckless driving, burglary of a vehicle, theft of a firearm, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and theft of property.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force, comprised of federal and local authorities, played a vital role in the search for Wilkerson, alongside the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. Despite questions surrounding the extent of Wilkerson's ability to evade capture for so long, no details about his tactics were provided by the authorities.

As of now, the Shelby County Criminal Court has not yet released an indictment form for Wilkerson, and it remains unclear whether he has legal representation. Efforts to reach his relatives were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

Wilkerson is one of three individuals charged in the shooting incident that took the life of Troy Cunningham and wounded a woman, according to the Shelby County district attorney's office. However, at the time of the arrest, he was the only remaining suspect still at large, adding a significant breakthrough to the ongoing investigation.
