A shocking video footage captured by a security camera has emerged on social media, revealing a terrifying missile strike on a popular beach in Sevastopol, Crimea. The incident took place on June 23 and resulted in numerous casualties among civilians, with four people dead and over 100 injured.

The video shows hundreds of tourists enjoying their time on the beach before chaos erupts. As the camera rolls, beachgoers can be seen running away from the water as a series of explosions strike the area. The impact of M74 submunitions, believed to be part of an MGM-140 ATACMS missile, sends water splashing up into the air while terrified Russian tourists frantically flee towards the shore.

Multiple clusters hit the beach, causing explosions on the sand and nearby buildings. Russian officials have attributed the incident to Russian air defenses shooting down a series of cluster warhead missiles, one of which deviated from its intended path. The Ministry of Defense stated that out of the five missiles launched, four were successfully intercepted, while the fifth missile's fragmentation warhead detonated in the air over the city of Sevastopol, resulting in the civilian casualties.

The Russian defense ministry has blamed the United States for the attack, claiming that the ATACMS missiles used in the strike were supplied and programmed by Americans. A Kremlin spokesperson expressed their outrage, stating that the direct involvement of the United States leading to the death of Russian civilians will not go without consequences.

It is worth noting that the United States supplies weapons to Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia and recognizes Crimea as part of Ukraine, despite Russia's annexation. Ukraine has previously announced plans to utilize long-range weapons provided by America to target infrastructure supporting the Russian invasion in Crimea.

This incident once again highlights the tension and violence in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, with the Crimean peninsula serving as a focal point for the war. Ukraine has been known to employ advanced technology to target Russian supply lines, as demonstrated by the recent release of footage showcasing the use of naval kamikaze drones to destroy Russian ships along the coast of Crimea.

As the investigation progresses and tensions escalate, Newsweek has reached out to the Russian defense ministry for further comment on the incident. For any information or queries regarding the conflict in Ukraine, please contact LiveNews@newsweek.com.
