In a tragic turn of events, the family of Stanley Kotowski, a 60-year-old man from Massachusetts, is mourning the loss of their loved one, who was found dead beneath a house in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Kotowski had gone missing on August 16 while on a family vacation, and after an extensive search effort, authorities made the somber discovery on August 26.
According to Jackie Kotowski, Stanley's wife, he had been experiencing insomnia and anxiety during their stay in Hilton Head. On the morning of his disappearance, Stanley left their vacation rental, seemingly in a confused state. Ring doorbell footage released by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office revealed Stanley leaving the residence barefoot, occasionally stopping to look around before continuing on.
Concerns about Stanley's mental state had arisen before his disappearance. Jackie shared with local news outlet WJCL that her husband had been suffering from severe insomnia for about a month and had begun exhibiting paranoid behavior. He believed that the people in Sea Pines, where they were staying, were watching him and had a conspiracy against him.
Jackie revealed that before Stanley left, he asked her to promise that she would go on without him. Worried about his well-being, she reported his disappearance to the authorities. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office launched an extensive search to locate Stanley and brought in the community's support during the efforts.
Unfortunately, the search concluded in heartbreak as authorities located what they believe to be Stanley Kotowski's remains beneath a residence in the Sea Pines area of Hilton Head. The discovery was made on August 26 following reports of suspicious activity at the property.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office stated in a Facebook post that it is believed the deceased male found is Stanley Kotowski, who had been reported missing on August 16. His body was recovered from underneath the house later that day.
Expressing her deep sorrow, Jackie took to Facebook to announce the devastating news of her husband's discovery. She expressed gratitude for the support and assistance offered by the community during the difficult search. She asked for continued thoughts and prayers as the family begins to process the unimaginable loss.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has stated that an autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday to determine the cause of Stanley Kotowski's death. As the family mourns their beloved Stanley, the supportive community stands by them, offering solace and comforting thoughts during this trying time.
