In a disturbing series of events, a Massachusetts man has been charged in connection with the stabbings of two individuals at a rest stop near Plymouth, leaving a man and a woman hospitalized. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jared Ravizza from Martha's Vineyard, was charged on Sunday by the Plymouth County District Attorney's office.
The incident at the rest stop followed an earlier event at a movie theater in Braintree, Massachusetts, where four young girls, aged 9 to 17, were injured. It has been reported that three of the victims were sisters. Evidence suggests that Ravizza may have been responsible for the movie theater stabbings as well, although he has not been officially charged in relation to those attacks as of Monday.
After receiving multiple 911 calls about an attack at a McDonald's restaurant within the rest stop, authorities discovered that Ravizza had reached through the drive-through window and stabbed the male victim using a large knife. He then proceeded to park his black Porsche Macan and entered the McDonald's, where he stabbed the female victim before fleeing the scene.
While police were responding to the rest stop stabbing, an alert was issued for Ravizza's arrest in connection to the movie theater incident. At approximately 7:15 p.m., he was apprehended in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Ravizza, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, has been scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's office has charged Ravizza with assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Meanwhile, the victims of the rest stop stabbing are currently receiving medical treatment, and it is expected that they will recover physically. However, they remain shaken by the traumatic events they experienced.
One of the victims' mother, Lisa Dembowski, spoke out about the movie theater attack, recalling how her daughters were targeted while watching the film "If". Dembowski shared that Ravizza stabbed her oldest daughter in the back, her other daughter in the top chest, and her youngest daughter across her arm. Throughout the ordeal, Ravizza allegedly laughed before attacking their friend and swiftly fleeing the scene.
Dembowski expressed concerns for her children's recovery, particularly her older daughter who displays a protective nature towards her siblings. Although the two younger girls are seemingly handling the situation better, Dembowski emphasized that the entire family is deeply shaken and worried about their well-being.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to gather more information about the motive behind these violent attacks and any potential connections between the rest stop and movie theater incidents.
