A manhunt is currently in progress in Arizona for a suspect who allegedly made threats to kill former President Donald Trump. The Cochise County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect as Ronald Lee Syvrud, a 66-year-old individual with a troubled criminal history.

According to authorities, Syvrud has multiple outstanding warrants from the state of Wisconsin, including charges related to DUI and failure to appear for DUI. Additionally, he also has a warrant from Graham County, Arizona, for hit-and-run and felony failure to register as a sex offender. The sheriff's office has placed an absconder hold on Syvrud for failing to register as a sex offender.

Syvrud's presence on the Wisconsin Department of Corrections sex offender registry links him to a case of "second-degree sexual assault of a child." It is worth noting that he has an address in Arizona.

Court records reviewed by Fox News Digital indicate that Syvrud was recently charged with assault in June, but those charges were dropped in July.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office, in a Facebook post, described Syvrud as an "investigative lead for threats to kill a presidential candidate," without providing further details. It was later confirmed by Fox News Digital that the targeted candidate is former President Donald Trump.

This threat comes in the wake of an assassination attempt on Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last month. However, authorities have stated that there are no known ties connecting Syvrud to Pennsylvania, and they are currently collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies in the manhunt.

Former President Trump, who is currently on a campaign trail, appeared to be unaware of the ongoing manhunt when asked for comment during a press conference. He expressed gratitude to the reporter for informing him and jokingly remarked about leaving the area immediately.

The U.S. Secret Service, responsible for the protection of former presidents, stated that they are aware of the manhunt in Arizona and are monitoring the situation closely. They referred all further inquiries to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office for additional information, including any potential ties to the assassination attempt in Butler.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Trump campaign for a response regarding the threat and the ongoing manhunt. As the search for Ronald Lee Syvrud continues, law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of all individuals involved and bring the suspect to justice.
