In Holden, Massachusetts, a man is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries after an acetylene tank that he had stored in his vehicle exploded on Saturday morning. The incident was confirmed by officials from the State Fire Marshal's Office.

According to reports, responders from the Holden Fire Department and local police officers were dispatched to the area of 216 Brattle St. in response to multiple 911 calls reporting an incident involving a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, they discovered a severely damaged car and a man who had been rescued from underneath the vehicle by concerned neighbors.

The injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries that, thankfully, are not considered life-threatening. The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services spokesperson provided this update.

Authorities stated that the explosion did not result in significant fire damage in the area. Investigators have determined that the man had stored the acetylene tank in the trunk of his vehicle, where it appears to have leaked while the vehicle was parked overnight. The exact ignition source that triggered the explosion is currently under investigation by Holden firefighters, Holden police, and Massachusetts State Police detectives from the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Acetylene is a compressed gas commonly used in the welding and cutting of metals, as stated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

As the investigation continues, officials urge individuals to handle hazardous materials with great caution, ensuring that proper storage and safety measures are followed at all times.
