**Man Confesses to Discharging Gun During Tuskegee University Shooting**

A man who admitted to firing a weapon during a chaotic shooting incident at Tuskegee University, which resulted in one death and injuries to at least 16 others, has denied targeting anyone. The revelation comes from a federal complaint recently unsealed.

According to the complaint, Jaquez Myrick, who was found holding a Glock pistol by police, confessed to discharging the weapon but insisted he did not aim at anyone. The incident left a scene of pandemonium, with people and vehicles obstructing patrol efforts, court records indicate.

Myrick, a 25-year-old from Montgomery, is currently facing federal charges for possessing a machine gun. The firearm was found to have a machine gun conversion device. It’s important to note that he is not accused of shooting any of the victims.

State and federal agents, including one from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, interviewed Myrick and included his confession in the federal complaint. Officer Alan Ashley of the Tuskegee police, one of the first responders to the gunfire, located Myrick and detained him.

Due to the congestion in the parking lot, Ashley had to abandon his patrol car and proceed on foot towards the sounds of gunfire. He soon discovered a deceased man and subsequently apprehended Myrick. The Glock pistol was found to function as a machine gun upon a field examination by the federal agent.

Federal court records currently do not list any attorneys representing Myrick, and it is unclear whether he has secured legal counsel.
