**Man Arrested in Deadly Home Invasion After Posing as Utility Worker**

Carlos Jose Hernandez, 37, has been taken into custody in connection to a violent home invasion in Rochester Hills, Michigan, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Hernandez, who posed as a utility worker to gain access to a home, is now facing murder charges.

Hernandez was apprehended in Shreveport, Louisiana, and efforts are underway to extradite him back to Michigan. Surveillance footage captured Hernandez and an accomplice disguised as utility workers attempting to enter the home last Thursday.

A harrowing 911 call from a woman inside the residence was received by authorities on Friday. She had been bound with duct tape while Hussein Murray, 72, was found dead in the basement. The Oakland County Medical Examiner has officially declared Murray’s death a homicide, although the exact cause remains unclear due to the severe nature of his injuries.

Investigators discovered that the duo had tried entering the home the night before under the pretense of a gas leak but were denied entry. The following evening, they returned and were permitted inside, where they led Murray to the basement under the guise of checking for the leak. Murray’s wife, who survived the ordeal, believed her husband had been kidnapped when he did not come back upstairs with the men.

In addition to the murder charge, Hernandez is facing additional charges. The search for his accomplice is ongoing, with Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard urging the suspect to surrender, stating, "one way or another we will find you."

Residents have been warned to exercise caution if someone unexpectedly arrives at their home claiming to be from a utility or other business. The sheriff's office recommends verifying any such visits by contacting the utility or business directly before allowing entry.
