An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 rattled Los Angeles on Monday, shaking the city and surrounding areas. The seismic event occurred at 12:20 p.m. PT and was initially reported as a 4.7 magnitude quake before being revised down to 4.4 by the US Geological Survey.

Despite its relatively modest intensity, the shallow earthquake, which struck at a depth of only 7.5 miles, was felt widely due to its proximity to heavily populated areas. According to the agency, earthquakes of this magnitude typically bring light shaking and very minimal to no damage.

Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage, announced the Los Angeles Fire Department. The department's crews, stationed at 106 fire stations, promptly sprang into action to conduct surveys of their respective districts in earthquake mode.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly Mitchell expressed her relief, stating, "Thankfully, no major damages or road closures were reported due to the earthquake." Supervisor Kathryn Barger took this opportunity as a proactive measure, urging residents to be prepared for future seismic events.

This recent earthquake in Los Angeles follows a series of seismic activities in the region. Just last week, a magnitude 5.2 temblor struck near Bakersfield, and on July 29, a magnitude 4.9 quake shook the vicinity of Barstow.
