French President Emmanuel Macron has made the decision to dissolve the National Assembly and call for a fresh election following his party's dramatic defeat at the hands of far-right candidates in the recent European Union election. The first round of the French Parliamentary election is scheduled for June 30, with the second round to be held on July 7.

In a televised address from his party headquarters in Paris, Macron emphasized the need for a clear majority in serenity and harmony, stating that being French is about choosing to write history rather than being driven by it. The far-right National Rally party, led by Marine Le Pen, is projected to win the European election in France with an impressive 31.5 percent of the vote. In contrast, Macron's liberal Renaissance party is projected to win only 15.2 percent of the vote.

The National Rally's remarkable success in the EU election outshone the combined totals of the second and third largest parties in France. Early exit polls indicated that the center-left social democrats earned approximately 14 percent of the vote. The outcome of the EU election has left Macron's supporters in disbelief, with some expressing their dismay during his televised address.

However, the National Rally's supporters were jubilant as Macron announced the dissolution of parliament, something the party had been calling for as their victory became apparent. They chanted "Dissolution, dissolution!" and celebrated at an electoral event where Marine Le Pen and lead candidate Jordan Bardella expressed their satisfaction with the result. Le Pen stated that the EU election outcome should serve as a message to Brussels and bring an end to the era of globalism.

The mood among the National Rally's gathered supporters was electric, with the French national anthem, the Marseillaise, being sung and French tricolors waved. The buffet was also visited for celebratory drinks as Le Pen's speech concluded.

As France prepares for a snap parliamentary election, the dissolution of parliament signals a new chapter in the country's political landscape. With tensions running high and parties vying for a clear majority, all eyes will be on the outcome of the upcoming election to determine the future direction of France.
