Article:

A 33-year-old man from Long Island has been arrested and charged in connection with a firework accident that resulted in two homes catching fire, authorities have reported. Karamjit Singh allegedly provided his 11-year-old son with a firework outside their Levittown home on the morning of July 4, instructing him to ignite it. Unfortunately, the firework malfunctioned and set a detached shed ablaze, eventually spreading to Singh's own residence and his neighbor's house.

According to law enforcement officials, both homes sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire. However, fortunately, no one was inside the neighbor's house at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

Singh now faces multiple charges, including arson, reckless endangerment, child endangerment, and various fireworks-related offenses. Following his arraignment, he was released without bail on Friday. NBC New York was present at his court appearance, but Singh refrained from commenting on the charges laid against him. As of now, no information is available regarding his legal representation.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with improper handling and use of fireworks. Authorities have repeatedly highlighted the importance of adhering to safety protocols and ensuring that children are not exposed to unsafe situations involving fireworks.

As investigations into the fire continue, local authorities urge residents to exercise caution when handling fireworks and to report any suspicious activity.
