### Liz Cheney's Remarks Ignite Trump's Fury at Harris Campaign Event

During a campaign event in Ripon, Wisconsin, former Representative Liz Cheney sharply criticized Donald Trump, urging voters to "reject the depraved cruelty of Donald Trump." Hours later, Trump unleashed a scathing response on Truth Social, attacking Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney.

Trump's lengthy tirade included accusations against Liz Cheney, focusing on her involvement in the January 6 House select committee. He also condemned Dick Cheney for his role in the Middle East conflicts, which he referred to as "our ridiculous journey into the Middle East, where Trillions of Dollars were spent, millions of people were killed." Labeling them as a "pathetic couple," Trump accused both of suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

Cheney's longstanding opposition to Trump has made her a notable figure amongst his critics within the Republican Party. Her primary loss in 2022, by a significant margin, has been seen as partially a result of her impeachment vote against Trump and her outspokenness following the Capitol riot. Nevertheless, Cheney remains undeterred in her criticisms.

Addressing the audience, Cheney remarked, "I was a Republican even before Donald Trump started spray-tanning," before lambasting Trump for inciting violence during the Capitol attack and questioning his fitness to lead the country. "What January 6 shows us is that there is not an ounce of compassion in Donald Trump," she stated, describing him as "petty, vindictive, and cruel."

In addition to her critiques, Cheney expressed strong support for Vice President Kamala Harris, who she praised for efforts to "unite reasonable people across the political spectrum." This endorsement from Cheney, followed by a similar one from her father, underscores an unusual bipartisan alliance amid the current political climate.

While Harris's attempts to court Republican voters who oppose Trump have been contentious within her party, it remains uncertain how these endorsements will impact her campaign. Dick Cheney, in particular, remains a polarizing figure, especially among Democrats due to his association with the controversial "war on terror" during George W. Bush's presidency. Despite mixed reactions, these endorsements signal significant cross-party collaboration aimed at addressing the turmoil within the Republican ranks.
