In a stunning turn of events, a green jacket belonging to the iconic golfer Arnold Palmer has been recovered after being stolen from Augusta National Golf Club over a span of 13 years. The jacket, earned by Palmer as a four-time Masters champion, was reportedly part of a collection of stolen merchandise and memorabilia transported and transferred by Richard Brendan Globensky.

Federal authorities recently charged Globensky, a former warehouse coordinator at Augusta National, for his alleged involvement in the theft and transportation of millions of dollars' worth of stolen items from 2009 to 2022. According to federal documents, Globensky had knowledge that the items he transported were stolen.

The recovery of Palmer's green jacket came as a result of an FBI operation in 2022. An Augusta National member, aware of the missing jacket, reached out to a collector known for finding rare items. They arranged a private sale as a means of retrieving the stolen jacket. After verifying its authenticity, a sale price of $3.6 million was agreed upon, and a deposit was paid.

However, as the buyer and collector were leaving the seller's house, they were met by FBI agents who promptly seized the jacket. The sellers were also questioned by federal authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.

Palmer, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 87, was honored by Augusta National by draping one of his green jackets on a chair during the Masters following his death. While he possessed multiple green jackets, the one believed to be stolen was not from any of his actual victories but was linked to his 1958 Masters win.

The recovery of Palmer's stolen green jacket is a significant moment for both golf enthusiasts and collectors alike. Its historic value and association with one of the sport's legends make it an invaluable piece of memorabilia. Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the stolen merchandise and memorabilia and the involvement of other potential culprits.

Augusta National Golf Club officials have not publicly acknowledged the theft of Palmer's green jacket, and federal investigators also made no mention of the iconic item. The investigation into this elaborate case of stolen golf memorabilia remains ongoing.
