### Commanders Miss Critical Extra Point, Fall to Cowboys 34-26
In a tense finish to Sunday's game, the Washington Commanders closed Dallas's lead to seven points with a field goal, leaving 1:40 on the clock. They soon had another opportunity when their defense forced a punt. Quarterback Jayden Daniels quickly capitalized, connecting with wide receiver Terry McLaurin for an 86-yard touchdown pass, narrowing the score to 27-26 with only 21 seconds remaining.
Head coach Dan Quinn opted for the extra point attempt rather than a two-point conversion. Unfortunately, kicker Austin Seibert, who was returning from a hip injury and had missed two previous kicks in the game, missed the critical extra point to the left. The Cowboys secured their victory by returning the ensuing onside kick for a touchdown, concluding the match at 34-26.
At the postgame press conference, Quinn explained his decision to go for the extra point. "No. I thought after we score, we'd go for one," Quinn stated. "And the reason behind that thought, let's get back into it but we don't have to decide it on this play." Despite having successfully executed a two-point conversion earlier in the game, Quinn chose to place his trust in Seibert for the short kick.
The Commanders' last-minute efforts fell short, and the team now faces a three-game losing streak, casting a shadow on their playoff chances as the season progresses.
