**Las Vegas Man Arrested With Loaded Firearm Near Trump Rally in Coachella**
A 49-year-old man from Las Vegas was apprehended near former President Donald Trump's rally in Coachella when he was found with a loaded firearm and high-capacity magazine, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The suspect, identified as Vem Miller, was taken into custody and booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center.
The incident occurred on Saturday just before 5 p.m. at a checkpoint near the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive. Deputies on duty at the rally stopped Miller's black SUV and upon inspection, allegedly discovered a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine in his possession.
Miller faces charges on suspicion of possessing a loaded firearm and possessing a high-capacity magazine. Despite the potential severity of the situation, sheriff's officials stated that the safety of former President Trump and those attending the event was not compromised.
