In a recent development, the man who accused Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice of assault has chosen not to pursue charges, according to multiple reports. Rice, however, still remains under investigation by the Dallas Police Department for an alleged altercation with a photographer at a Dallas nightclub earlier this month.

According to WFAA-TV, Rice is being looked into for allegedly punching a photographer inside the nightclub. The incident resulted in a 29-year-old man sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, as he took himself to a local hospital for treatment, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.

As of May 10, the Dallas Police Department had not filed any charges against Rice and no arrests were made in connection with the incident. This comes after a prior incident involving Rice in late March, where he was involved in a multi-vehicle crash in northeast Dallas.

Rice, who was driving a Lamborghini SUV at the time, caused a chain-reaction collision involving four other vehicles. The receiver, along with Theodore Knox, a cornerback at SMU, reportedly fled the scene. Following the incident, Rice is now facing several charges, including one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.

Rice turned himself in at the Glenn Heights Police Department and was subsequently booked and released on a $40,000 bond, according to his attorney, Royce West. Two crash victims involved in the incident, Irina Gromova and Edvard Petrovskiy, have filed a lawsuit against Rice and Knox, seeking $1 million in damages. The suit outlines severe injuries sustained by the victims, which include brain trauma, lacerations, contusions, and internal bleeding.

In response to the crash, Rice took to Instagram, expressing his remorse and accepting full responsibility for his involvement. He stated, "I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday's accident" and pledged to cooperate fully with authorities.

Despite the ongoing legal matters, Rice has returned to work with the Kansas City Chiefs. He participated in the team's voluntary offseason program, albeit via video conference due to the current circumstances. Rice, who grew up in North Richland Hills and played college football at SMU, made a significant impact as a rookie last season, emerging as the Chiefs' top receiver with 79 receptions and 938 yards in the regular season. He also contributed 26 receptions and 262 yards in four playoff games, helping the Chiefs secure their Super Bowl victory.

While Rice has been cleared of assault charges, the investigation into the nightclub incident continues. The Kansas City Chiefs organization has not released an official statement regarding the ongoing situation involving their receiver.
