**Kamala Harris' Appearance Boosts "The View" to Record Ratings**

A recent appearance by Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on "The View" resulted in a surge of viewership for the daytime talk show. Her guest spot on Tuesday, October 8, drew an impressive 3.143 million viewers, marking the highest viewership for the program since February 15, 2021.

According to Nielsen ratings provided by ABC News, this extraordinary turnout played a significant role in "The View" dominating the week of October 7 in terms of overall viewership, with an average of 2.597 million viewers. This figure reflects a 12% increase from the same week last year. It also represents the fifth consecutive week of rising numbers, indicating a robust trend for the show. Notably, this week was the most viewed since the week of March 28, 2022.

In the competitive landscape of daytime network talk and news shows, "The View" outperformed several of its rivals. It surpassed NBC's "Today" third hour, which garnered 1.943 million viewers, as well as "Today with Hoda & Jenna" and "NBC News Daily," each pulling in 1.265 million viewers. CBS' "The Talk" lagged behind with 1.184 million viewers.

Moreover, "The View" saw a week-to-week increase in several key demographics. Total viewership climbed 6% to 2.597 million, while the number of women aged 25-54 rose by 7% to 192,000. The viewership among women aged 18-49 experienced a 9% increase, reaching 138,000.

Harris' appearance on "The View" was part of a media tour that included stops on "60 Minutes," "The Howard Stern Show," "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," and the podcast "Call Her Daddy." This was Harris' first live interview and talk show appearance since being nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate. She engaged in discussion with hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.

This marked Harris’ eighth visit to "The View," her last one being in January. Her recent appearance comes shortly after President Joe Biden guested on the show on September 25, which had been the most-watched episode of the season until Harris' appearance.

Season-to-date, "The View" leads in total viewership with an average of 2.486 million viewers, achieving its best ratings since the 2020-2021 season.
