This fundraising triumph not only surpassed the amount raised by former President Donald Trump's Republican campaign but also showcased a surge of support for Harris as she continues her bid for the presidency.

Harris' fundraising success was a result of contributions from various sources, including her campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees. Remarkably, the majority of the funds, totaling over $200 million, poured in during the first week after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Harris on July 21.

The vibrant Democratic nominee's robust campaign now begins August with an impressive $377 million on hand, showcasing her substantial financial advantage over the opposition. In stark comparison, Trump's political organization, which includes his campaign and joint fundraising committees, raised $138.7 million in July, leaving them with $327 million in reserves for the upcoming election.

Harris' monumental fundraising achievement reflects a renewed enthusiasm among Democratic donors, many of whom were initially reluctant to contribute following Biden's lackluster debate performance against Trump in late June. The campaign emphasized that two-thirds of the contributions came from first-time donors, highlighting the expanding support base that Harris has generated.

In a press release, Harris' campaign revealed, "More than 3 million donors made over 4.2 million contributions, with more than 2 million donors making their first donation this cycle." This substantial financial backing will lead to impactful investments in various crucial battlegrounds, such as expanding grassroots organizing efforts, establishing rural offices in Pennsylvania, and engaging college students through club fairs.

Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating, "Our money is going towards the work that wins close elections - whether it be the organizer knocking doors in DeKalb County, a rural office opening in Pennsylvania, or a college student tabling at a club fair." She further emphasized the campaign's fighting spirit, saying, "When we fight, we win."

Harris' outstanding fundraising month sets a powerful precedent for the upcoming months, solidifying her position as a formidable candidate in the race for the presidency. With a significant financial advantage and a growing base of supporters, the vice president's campaign is poised to make a lasting impact as the November election draws near.
